Aris Express 2.4 1115144 setup fails – Feature transfer error
Hello,
I get the following error when running aris-express-setup.exe:
Feature: Disk<1>
Component: <Disk1>Disk1 Files(1)
File: C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{49ABE0DF-40E8-8996-7A2938BFB5C2}\
Error: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
However, before starting the installation the folder was empty, and is still empty after the installation fails.
Can you help, please?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
Is a setup file for previous versions available as I have never had this problem before?

ARIS Express 2.4c will not register - no internet connection
I am trying to run Aris Express 2.4c on Windows 10 operating in Parallels Desktop on Mac OS X Sierra.
I have managed to kick start the registration process by running the express.jnlp file. After entering my login credentials and selecting next, it comes back with the following error:
Unable to connect to Aris Community. Please connect to the internet when running Aris Express for the first time so that your login data can be checked.
In addition, please check your system's proxy settings under Internet Options.
I have:
- Verified that the Windows 10 environment is connected to the internet (using it now to post this question.)
- Turned off all proxies in Windows 10 Internet Options.
- Disabled both Windows Firewalls and Mac OS X Sierra firewalls.
- Set JRE 6 Network Settings to 'Use Browser Settings.'
- Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Aris Express.
- Verified that my Windows 10 account is an administrator account.
I'm stumped. Is there anything else I can try to get this to work?

My organization has a licenced copy for ARIS Business Architect 7.1 but am not sure whether the licence can be used for 9X.

Installing Aris Express: e-mail vs. community forum user name
My first post in this forum and I hope not last.
In the installation instructions it states clearly that we should not use the registered e-mail address as user name when installing and initiating Aris Express.
This appears to be advice given with some deviation for students whom register through the use of a university account.
In this case i.e. it is your community user account name as well as registered user e-mail which is to be used together with your password specified when registering for the first time.
If your university or faculty is not is not registered with the database of ARIS /Software AG then some delay may occur before you can use the product.
Thank's for a great initiative which this university exchange program on Aris behalf is.

Notation function in Aris Express
Hi
My Name is Nesh, I'm a student doing research on EPC.
I just downloaded and installed ARIS Express 2.4, I found the function notation is divided into several categories: activity, person, entity, document, product, process interface, role, location, database, IT system and risk function.
I have read some papers, but do not find such a concept, can you help me to find the paper used by ARIS Express as the basis for making the notation (person, entity, document, product, process interface, role, location, database, IT system And risk function).

Cyrillic text is not saved into either pdf or rtf. Any solution?

Searched the forum for any info, just found out the problem was identified and promised to be fixed in 2011 )).
Seems it still exists.
So, when saving any model into PDF/RTF file, I see only latin chars are saved correctly; any cyrillic symbols are shown as question signs (?????). Meanwhile the same text on diagram is displayed correctly, no matter cyrillic or not.
Choosing proper model language has no effect. I choose Russian or English - no way.
Any help? Maybe hidden setting, probably I need to patch config files? Special language update?

Crash when open a file dialog on Windows 10 creators update
Hello, I'm using Aris Express on Windows 10 creators update and no file dialogs is usable: every dialog (open, save as, export, etc.) causes an exception and the program crashes.
Attached an error log related to this problem.

ARIS Express available for Apple, too!
Hi, dear community members,
maybe you do know, that ARIS Express was, with older JRE versions, also working for Apple Mac.
With a JRE update, ARIS Express did not run anymore, since there was a incompatibility at one library for the user interface which we are using.
Well, eventually we did an update of the library and we bought licenses of the new version, and here you go:

You still need a local JRE installed, though.

ARIS Express export to PDF issue
Hello
I've been able to successfully export up until one Express file yesterday, which keep crashing. I've tried others and they work fine. The message give no indication as to why it keeps failing. I've tried copying the content and pasting to a new document, I've tried renaming and neither works, though other files do. Any clue as to why this is happening and if there is a workaround?
I'm no a Mac, but using Express via Virtual box and Windows 10. I have a Java launcher and running Express 2.4c. If there is other info I can give to help, please let me know. I'm trying to convert to PDF so that I can share with a supplier.

EDIT:
Strangely, by copying a small section at a time to a new document and testing each new addition for a PDF export, I found that it worked at every attempt, until I'd complete the pasting. I then tried the full re-pasted document and it worked. I've written over the original and that also works. No clue as to what was stopping the original file, whether there was something in the ARIS file that did not belong there.

Aris Express non compliant with the BPMN specification

I use ARIS frequently for training and consulting missions and noticed that there are two modelling details in which Aris Express is not compliant with the BPMN specification:
1) The message flow must be dashed and not dotted. According to the specification:
With a dotted line in Aris Express. It is possible to change manually the dotted arrow into a dashed one in the properties, but this is not very convenient:
2) The event subprocess has a dotted boundary, not a dashed one (like in Aris Express), both the expanded and collapsed event subprocess. According to the BPMN spec:

I wonder if somebody else has reported this already, since especially the message flow is already used in basic process models, but I couldn't find another post on it. Is it possible to correct this, please? How fast can SAG correct these sort of errors?

Проблема при активации ARIS Express
Здравствуйте. 22.06 скачал Aris express для Windows с официального сайта. В процессе установки на шаге 3 указываю логин и пароль для ARIS Community (под которым сейчас вошёл в Community). Высвечивается окно "Cheking user name and password...". Потом оно исчезает и ничего не происходит. Активация ARIS зависает. Ждал достаточное количество времени, не помогло.
Операционная система Win 7 Корпоративная х64 SP1
Java Standart edition Version 7 Update 71
В настройках интернет используется proxy server
В чём может быть проблема? Версия Java может на это влиять? Спасибо

How to create subprocesses

I want to create a subprocess in my BPMN Diagramm which expands when you click on the plus in the process. I have a very complex process thats why I want to make subprocess to give a better overview.

Express update for Windows 10, creators update
Hi, dear ARIS Express users,
we will release an update of ARIS Express soon, which will have the version 2.4d, then.
Some users of software running on the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) had problems starting these tools, in case their Windows 10 system had been updated to the so called 'creators update'.
The new version of Express contains a fix for a possible incompatibility.
We only heard from one user having this problem... however, in some forums (and on the Microsoft homepage), there are many complains about Java applications that do not start anymore.
PLEASE NOTE: this is just a technical update without new functionality. You do not need to update your local installation, if you do not face any problems in starting Express under Windows 10.
In that case, if you want to get rid of this update message, you can switch it off by deactivating the option on the lower left side of this dialog.

Oracle RAC cluster data migration method using True Copy
We have a application using oracle rac with oracle cluster configuration. so far we have an option to use either True Copy or Oracle base. We have use True copy so far for other system including oracle db and SQL but not on cluster environment. Oracle RAC came up with the solution which is online migration however their method is move the data to new disk. There was some argument in terms of backup plan or fallback plan if something happen in the middle we can't use back the old disk because some data have been move to new disk. However for True Copy, we are confident that we can have a fallback plan in terms of data availability because we are not touch the old disk after we bring down the DB, however the risk is at cluster level. If we want to proceed with true copy, what are the steps need to have so that we can manage to bring up the db after split True Copy
